i could sail the seven seas

This past weekend we did a little getaway.  Just the two of us for four days straight.  It was wonderful!  We haven’t gotten away just the two of us for that long since Everett has been born.  Our weekend consisted of sleeping in and long walks on the beach – you know, the stuff romantic movies are made of :)

The trip started out in Chicago for a quick visit and to meet up with one of our 2014 couples for their engagement session.  Stay tuned for their photos on the blog soon!

We spent the majority of the weekend at the beach.  Holding hands and walking slowly with nowhere to be.  We talked about everything under the sun and dreamed about what our future looks like.  They were the best days.  My absolute favorite.

We hiked the sand dunes and admired the amazing views of Lake Michigan.  I’ll say it again, Michigan is awesome and our lakes really are great. Let’s just pretend like this phone selfie doesn’t show how sweaty we are :)

We may be a nerds, but we loved the time we spent at the Michigan Maritime Museum.  I poured over the displays and details of the maritime history of the great lakes.  We highly recommend you make the stop if you get the chance.

After this winter I was seriously beginning to wonder if summer was ever going to come this year.  Well, after the amazing weather we had this weekend, I’d say it’s here.  And I couldn’t be more thankful!  Here’s to the next few months full of sunshine, boat rides and late night campfires!
